Nadine Edney scored her eighth goal of the season and Grace Harrison made 18 saves — including several in the final minute of overtime — to lead the St. Lawrence University women's hockey team in a 1-1 tie with Quinnipiac in an ECAC Hockey game in Hamden, Connecticut, on Friday night.

Quinnipiac struck first, as Sarah-Ève Coutu-Godbout scored when the puck came loose on a scramble in front of the Saints' net six minutes into the game.

Edney knotted the game 10 minutes later, one-timing a pass from Kennedy Marchment from behind the net high on the glove side.

St. Lawrence held a 24-19 edge in shots on goal, with Quinnipiac goaltender Abby Ives stopping 23 shots. Both teams were whistled for three penalties, but neither team was able to capitalize on any of their power play opportunities.

"That was a hard fought tie," said St. Lawrence head coach Chris Wells '92. "Both teams had some chances and both goalies made some great stops to keep the game tied. We always play low scoring games here and tonight wasn't any different. Playoff hockey has started early! It's the best time of the year."

The Saints, now 16-9-4 overall and 12-5-2 in ECAC Hockey play, fell back into a tie for fourth place in the conference standings with Cornell, a 4-0 winner over Yale. Quinnipiac moved to 15-13-3, 11-7-1. St. Lawrence holds a three-point lead over the Bobcats and can clinch home ice in the quarterfinal round of the ECAC playoffs if they claim one more point against Princeton than Quinnipiac wins against Clarkson.
