The St. Lawrence University men's basketball team fell to The College at Brockport on Saturday, 87-68, in a non-conference matchup in the Burkman Gymnasium. The Eagles (1-0) forced 27 turnovers in the game and outscored the Saints 48-22 in the paint. Brockport's Brandon Caruthers led three Eagles in double figures with his 19 points, while Brady Condlin had a game-high 22 points for the Saints, who fall to 1-3 on the season.
St. Lawrence and Brockport battled back and forth through the first 13:00 minutes of the opening half. A 3-pointer from first-year student Kyle Edwards at 8:49 tied the game at 23-23 before Brockport went on a 24-12 run to close the half with a 47-35 lead.
In the second half, Edwards would cut the Saints' deficit back to within single digits (49-40) on an old fashioned three-point play at 18:58, but that was the closest the home team would come, as Brockport forced 27 turnovers in the game while outscoring St. Lawrence 48-22 in the paint.
The Eagles led by as many as 26 points (76-50) at 9:19, and didn't allow the Saints to come closer than 19 points the rest of the way en route to the 87-68 final.
For Brockport, John Ivy scored 16 points, including 10-of-13 from the free throw line, while adding six rebounds and six steals. Patrick Coyle added 14 points.
Kieran Miller had a big day on the boards for the Saints, tallying a game-high 13 rebounds while adding seven points and two steals. Janpeter Brase recorded 11 points and five rebounds, while Kyle Kobis added ten. Edwards finished with eight points.
