Sebastiaan Jansen's header stood as the lone goal as Union College defeated #7 St. Lawrence University by the score of 1-0 in a Liberty League match in Schenectady, NY on Saturday.
The loss moves the Saints to 11-2-1 with a 3-2-1 mark in the league. Meanwhile, the Dutchmen improve to 10-3 and 3-2-0.
Union's goal came in the 36th minute when Jansen headed a ball from Alex Pack that arched towards the net temporarily. A swarm of Saints defenders recovered and cleared the ball out, however, the officials stopped the match and deemed that the ball crossed the goal line.
The Dutchmen were able to hold on for the 1-0 victory despite being outshot by St. Lawrence 27-10 in the contest. Senior goalkeeper Nate Goss-Woliner made a save in net for the Saints, while Ryan Carter stopped 11 shots for the Dutchmen.
St. Lawrence will travel to Rochester, NY to play RIT on Oct. 20 at 2:00 p.m.
