Junior Lani Durio (Austin, TX) and freshman Aishvina Arasu (Brea, CA) each gained Springfield Invitational All-Tournament honors for the Clarkson Volleyball team this past weekend, and the pair were justly rewarded with Liberty League Performer and Rookie of the Week honors on Monday.
Durio, chosen as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, ran Clarkson's young offense with an impressive level of skill, posting 51 assists in a five-set victory over 21st-ranked Springfield College and then added 31 and 28 assists, respectively, in three-set sweeps of Simmons College and Westfield State. Durio had 110 assists (10.0 per set) and four aces over the weekend to lead Clarkson to a 3-0 start and gained Liberty League Performer of the Week honors.
Arasu announced her presence with a 20-kill performance against Springfield and had 43 kills over the weekend to gain Springfield Invitational All-Tournament honors and Liberty League Rookie of the Week recognition. Arasu averaged 3.91 kills per set with a hitting percentage of .293, the second best mark on the team. She also added in five blocks and four digs in the three-match weekend.
