A 78 point performance by Saint divers and top ten performances by a pair of relay teams accounted for most of the Saint points on day one of the 2013 Liberty League Swimming and Diving Championships hosted by Union on Friday.
The Saints jumped from eighth to sixth in the nine-team field with a strong showing on the three meter board. James Wilczewski was fifth, scoring 398.95 points, Alex Blake sixth at 388.58, Billy Moran 10th at 337.25 and Lucas Heath-Howe was 15th to give the Saints a big boost in the standings.
The Saint 200 free relay of Grant Reeder, Hank McCormick, Keenan Weischedel and Kirby Kaylor placed tenth and scored sixth in 1:37.35 to start Friday's competition at the Liberty League Championships. The 400 medley relay team of Reeder, Weischedel, McCormick and Kaylor finished eighth in 4:06.64.
The Saint men are sixth of nine in the meet which is led by Rochester with RPI just behind.
Kaylor finished tied for 24th with a time of 23.09 in the 50 free for the only other scoring finish for the Saints on Friday. Matt Bauer finished 30th in the 500 freestyle in 5:20.46 and McCormick was 26th in 2:13.05 in the 200 IM.
