Senior midfielder Emily DePoy scored her third goal of the season and first since Sept. 6 in the 80th minute to help the St. Lawrence women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over SUNY Potsdam on Sandy MacAllaster Field on Tuesday afternoon.

"This game was a good tune up for our last conference game," Head Coach Franco Bari said. "We performed very well in the last part of the second half which isEmily DePoy '16 scored the game-winning goal against Potsdam. momentum we can use as we move into the weekend. Both goals were really nice and well earned."

Samantha Rock gave the Saints a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute when she headed a cross from Amanda Hamilton back across the box from 12 yards out that hit the inside of the far post before falling behind Bears' goalkeeper Bri Thibeau for her fifth goal of the season.

The Saints settled in after Rock's goal and applied consistent pressure to the Bears back line and Thibeau, spending a majority of the remainder of the game in the attacking third.

But Potsdam cashed in on its third corner kick opportunity of the afternoon in the 73rd minute to tie the game at 1-1. Kaylen Van Wagner played the ball into traffic on the opposite side of the box where Jess Sterns was able to corral it and beat the Saints' Kelsey West.

Just seven minutes later, DePoy took a pass from Katie Stames at the top of the box and hit a shot with the outside of her right foot that soared past Thibeau into the left upper 90 for the game-winning goal.

The Saints finished with a 26-4 edge in shots on the day, including a 12-1 advantage in shots on goal. Samantha Rock rang a strike off the far post midway through the second half and Hannah Merriam hit the crossbar in the latter 45 minutes as well.

The best opportunity for the Saints to push the lead to 3-1 came from sophomore Kaleigh White, who was in alone after touching the ball around Thibeau when she came off her line to attempt to intercept the through ball at the top of the box. But the Middletown, Mass. native took a flat shot from the left side of the box and just missed the far post.

Thibeau finished with 10 saves for the Bears, while West did not register a save in the contest.

St. Lawrence will finish out the regular season with a 1 p.m. match against Clarkson on Sandy MacAllaster Field Saturday, Oct. 31.
