DeNicola, Healey lead Saints men's lax at Potsdam

Conor Healey took over third on the Saints all-time scoring list and Jamie DeNicola tied his season-high of five goals as the seventh-ranked St. Lawrence University men's lacrosse team topped SUNY Potsdam 20-7 in a non-conference game under the lights Tuesday evening in Potsdam, New York.

DeNicola led the way for the Saints with five goals, while Conor Healey scored three goals and added three assists to bring his career total to 263 points surpassing Pete Mackenzie '79 for third place. Jon Fairbanks scored two goals and tallied an assist, Connor Brimley and Cal Hynson scored two goals each. Andrew Jarrett, Jordan Dow, Kyle Gagne, Austin Nadeau, Alex Dunn and Harrison Koch all netted one goal against the Bears.

St. Lawrence opened up scoring, blanking the Bears 13-0, before Casey Boulio netted the first goal for Potsdam with just nine seconds remaining in the second quarter. Fairbanks scored his 15th goal of the season to lead off the third quarter. Eric Soderquist responded with a man-down goal for the Bears just 14 seconds off the faceoff. Potsdam posted three man-up goals in the fourth quarter as the game drew to a close.

DeNicola also led the Saints with five ground balls, while Sam Sweeney, Ryan Brigham and Alec Dietsch picked up 4-4-3, respectively. St. Lawrence outshot Potsdam 53-20 and picked up 48 ground balls to the Bears' 23.

The Bears were led by Boulio, who scored three goals, while Berkley Stone added two goals and Soderquist scored one goal and added three assists. Jack Bezek, Zach Sheridan and Sean Coe combined for 16 saves in goal for Potsdam. Matty Corbelle recorded seven saves for the Saints.

The Saints move to 12-1 on the season and the Bears fell to 4-7 overall. St. Lawrence returns to North Country Field to face RPI in a Liberty League contest at 12 p.m. on Saturday for senior day.
