Four different defensemen tallied goals for St. Lawrence on Friday night, as women's hockey opened ECAC play with a 4-2 win over Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H. for the team's fourth consecutive victory. First-year netminder Sonjia Shelly made 27 saves in the win.

Seniors Megan Armstrong and Amanda Boulier each scored their third goals of the season, while juniors Alex Moore and Kirsten Padalis notched their firsts against the Big Green. The Saints also scored a pair of power play goals, their first since the regular season opener against Northeastern.

"Real solid effort tonight by both teams," Head Coach Chris Wells said. "It was a big boost to get a few power play goals to give our offense a lift. We played very smart and hard in the third period to preserve the lead and get a very important two points."

Armstrong got the Saints on the board at the 3:42 mark of the opening frame off a feed from classmate Jenna Marks, but that lead was quickly erased by a pair of Dartmouth power play goals at 6:16 and 11:45 by Lindsey Allen and Ailish Forfar.

"Dartmouth has some very dangerous players in Lindsey Allen and Laura Stacey. They had some great efforts and chances all night," Wells added.

Dartmouth led 2-1 in the latter half of the first period, but Padalis pulled the Saints even with the first of two power play tallies for the Scarlet and Brown at 16:06 with Justine Reyes assisting.

With the Saints on the power play again late in the middle frame, Reyes and Padalis set up Moore for the eventual game-winning goal, making it 3-2 in favor of the visitors at the 15:46 mark of the second.

Boulier iced the game for the Saints, scoring the fourth and final goal – an empty netter – with 22 seconds remaining in regulation.

With the win, St. Lawrence improves to 4-5-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the league. Dartmouth is now 1-1-0 overall and in ECAC competition this season.

Big Green goaltender Robyn Chemago finished with 18 saves in the loss.

The Saints will travel to Harvard for the second game of their ECAC-opening road trip for a 4 p.m. contest at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center on Saturday, Oct. 31.
