Jethro Dede scored his sixth goal of the season and the Saints lone goal as the St. Lawrence University men's soccer team edged Skidmore 1-0 on senior day at Sandy MacAllaster Field, Saturday afternoon.
Ryan Roche fed Dede a pass about 18 yards out, Brendan McNamee let the pass slide between his legs, which allowed Dede to fire a shot to the lower left hand corner for the win.
The Saints outshot the Thoroughbreds 16-13 and held a slight 6-5 shots on goal advantage.
"It was a very good win for the team today on senior day," said head coach Mike Toshack. "Our seniors definitely showed their quality and led today. The back also gave us another great performance as Stephen Dorney, Sam Sapnar, Ryan Crouse, and Mike Smith continued to do great work on defense. The team is looking forward to putting in another great week of practice and prepping for Hobart next weekend."
Saints' goalkeeper Smith and Skidmore's Sebastian Bosch each finished with five saves.
With the win, St. Lawrence improved to 7-5-3 on the season and 5-1-2 in Liberty League play, while Skidmore fell to 5-3-6- and 1-2-5.
The Saints travel to Hobart next Saturday, Oct. 28th. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
