Day 4 Prelims complete for Saints swim team at UNYSCSA Championships

The St. Lawrence University swimming and diving teams continued to post outstanding efforts in the fourth and final day of the UNYSCSA Championships. Eight individuals and four relay teams advance to the finals, which will begin at 6:00 tonight.

Leading the way for the Saints was a ninth place finish by Elizabeth Canne in the 200 breaststroke. She had a season-best time of 2:31.04. Also advancing to the finals was Samantha Moffitt in the 100 free as she was 20th with a time of 55.24.

Four individuals advanced to finals in the 200 backstroke, led by Casey Abribats 13th place finish with a time of 2:11.93. She was followed by Brynn Hagen (15th in 2:14.61), Courtney Goodrich (18th in 2:16.74) and Molly Sneden (19th in 2:16.83), all who posted their personal best times of the season.

The 400 free relay team of Hagen, Abribat, Moffitt and Natalie Dellinger took 13th place in the preliminaries with their time of 3:44.63, which was a significant time drop from earlier in the season. Sneden, Maria Anselmi, Caroline Winslow and Molly Lunn also qualified in the event with their season-best time of 3:56.75, good for 24th.

On the men's side, Andrew Hayes and Jason Dutra both qualified for the finals in the 200 back as they posted personal bests of the season. Hayes was 12th with a time of 1:57.69, while Dutra was 15th with a time of 1:58.16.

Dutra and Hayes were joined by Kirby Kaylor and Russ Newton to qualify for the 400 free relay finals with their season-best time of 3:16.63, along with Lane Heed, Michael Murray, Luke Peleggi and Tad Deatly who qualified with their 24th place finish in 3:38.29, also their best of the season.

The Saints will participate in the finals this evening which start at 6:00pm.
