BUFFALO, N.Y.- The SUNY Potsdam swimming and diving teams competed in Day 3 of the SUNYAC Championships at Erie Community College.
Sophomore Samantha Coombs (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) finished eighth in the A Final for the 200 Free race with a time of 1:57.89. She swam the last leg of the 200 Medley Relay when she teamed up with sophomore Iris Curtis (Lewiston, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield), sophomore Allison Medley (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) and senior Emily Gulitti (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston). The team took sixth place with a time of 1:53.71, nearly missing the school record of 1:53.45.
Senior Colleen Fraser (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) and Medley each competed in the B Final for the 100 Breaststroke. Fraser finished 10th (1:10.28) and Medley followed her with a 12th place finish (1:10.96). Gulitti took 10th place in the B Final for the 400 Individual Medley race, while Curtis touched the wall at 1:03.62 in the 100 Backstroke for a 15th place finish.
Sophomore Ben Sitts (Gouverneur, N.Y./Gouverneur) competed in the B Final in the 100 Breastroke with a time of 1:02.03. He then combined with freshman Andrew McEwen (Macedon, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon), sophomore Joshua Parker (Farmington, N.Y./Victor) and senior Jacob Van De Valk (Genoa, N.Y./Southern Cayuga) to finish ninth in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:40.71.
Preliminaries will start tomorrow at 10 a.m. with the Men's 200 Backstroke race and the finals will start at 5:30 p.m.
