Dartmouth downs Saints women's hockey, 5-1

A hat trick by Lindsey Allen helped the Dartmouth women's hockey team beat St. Lawrence 5-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Bill Gray Regional IcePlex in Rochester, N.Y. The conference foes played a non-conference game as the feature of the Fire and Ice youth hockey tournament.

"We played another very solid game tonight at a fun event," Head Coach Chris Wells said. "We had some fantastic looks and chances to score, but Chemango made some great stops and Dartmouth did a solid job on the PK. We will be able to take plenty leading into next weekend's league games."

Dartmouth got on the board just 2:16 into the first period on a goal by Ailish Forfar, and then Karlee Odland extended the Big Green's lead to 2-0 midway through the opening frame.

At the 13:22 mark of the first period, Jenna Marks cut the deficit in half with her fourth goal of the year with assists going to Kayla Raniwsky and Kailee Heidersbach. But that would be all the Saints could get past Dartmouth netminder Robyn Chemango, who finished with 29 saves for the Big Green.

Late in the second period, Allen scored her first of the afternoon to give Dartmouth a 3-1 lead and then tallied a pair of empty-net goals late in the third period to earn the hat trick.

Mikaela Thompson made the start in net for St. Lawrence, making 29 saves, including 12 in the second period.
