CYO Basketball: Ogdensburg Boys & Girls Club, Bangor, Chateaugay all picked up wins

The Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club, Bangor, and Chateaugay all picked up wins in CYO action over the weekend.

Ogdensburg 85, St. John Bosco 48

Leading 14 to 11 after one quarter, the boys from the 'Burg went on a 16 to one run to start the second quarter, and ended up leading 49 to 17 at the half.

Marv Petell led the winners with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while David Tomford added 13, and John Morrison and Konner Murdock notched 10 apiece. Rounding out the scoring was Dillon Binion with nine, Sean Love with eight, Ryan Petell with seven, Jordan Miller with three, and David Boyle with two.

St. John Bosco was led by Corey LaMere with 14, Gage Gardner with 13, and Mike Gordon with 12. Other Bosco scorers were Cameron Guerin with 9, Garrett Duval with four, and Spencer White with a free throw.

Bangor 61, Maranatha 21

Dan Sanchez scored 10 of his game high 14 points in the first half to lead Bangor to a perfect 3-0 start. Devan Monette and Nate Revette scored 10 apiece, while Eric Childs added eight points, eight rebounds, and four blocked shots.

John King, Nick Revette, Dylan Thomas, Robert LeClair and Alex LaFountain rounded out the Bangor scoring with 6,4,4,3 and 2 respectively.

Maranatha was again led by Codi Church with 16 points including three treys, while Savannah Li also hit a trey, John Brown added two and Jacob Searles notched a free throw.

Chateaugay 52, North Star 21

Mike LaVere tossed in a game high 15 points to lead the winners, while Jake English added 10, Zach Snyder nine, and Alex DeCoteau and Zach cook added seven apiece. Casey Brown and Damian Thurston bot contributed a pair of points while Joe Lawrence hauledn down eight rebounds.

North Star was led by threen playersnwith six points apiece, as Nick Nemier, Jason Twigg, and Alex Shackett all tied for high scorer, while Tyler Nichols added a trey.

Splinter Action

In splinter action, Ogdensburg doubled up St. John Bosco 34-17. Brent Mills led the winners with n9, Daniel Moulton tallied eight, and Jordan Miller added 6. Ryan Petell and Jed Roberts tossed in four apiece, while David Boyle and Seria tallied two points each. St. John Bosco was led by Spencer White with eight, Garrett Duvall with seven, and Austin Gonia with two.

In the other splinter contest, Bangor edged Chateaugay 27 to 20. Scott Benware led the winners with nine points, followed by four players with four points each, Nicole Benware, Alex LaFountain, Dylan Thomas, and Nick Revette, while Ernie Munford added two. Chateaugay was led by Alex DeCoteau with eight, followed by Damian Thurston, Mike LaVere, and Doug LaBombard with six, four, and two, respectively.

The Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club basketball team did what the New York Giants couldn't do on Sunday afternoon. They shook off a slow start, scored the last six points of the first quarter to take a 20-14 lead and then cruised to a 65-34 victory over PAPAS Dairy to gain a 4-0 record in the Franklin CYO League.

John Morrison collected nine interior points in the first quarter to spark the locals and went to score 15 points atop a balanced scoring parade. Konnor Murdock, Marv Petell and Rudy Binion delivered nine, eight and seven points while leading a fullcourt press which ignited a first half pull-away. Rounding out the winning offense were: five points from Daniel Moulton, two points from Jordan Miller and Sean Love and a free throw by Zach Ashley.

John Picaro scored a game-high 18 points for PAPAS Dairy and Brandon Picaro scored nine points. Jenny Preve and Wally Poupore added four and three points.
