Clarkson University Hockey's leading scorer, Sheldon Rempal will forgo the final two years of his collegiate campaign after signing a two-year, entry-level contract with the Los Angeles Kings, announced today by LA's Vice President and General Manager Rob Blake.

One of the most dynamic forwards in the nation, Rempal enjoyed a stellar season with the Golden Knights in 2017-18, helping to lead Clarkson to its best season in 10 years with a 23-11-6 record and back into the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2008.

"I appreciate having Sheldon for two years here," said head Coach Casey Jones. "Obviously, we are sorry to see him go, but it is a fantastic opportunity for Sheldon. It is a life-long dream of his to play professional hockey, and this is his chance to pursue that goal. We wish Sheldon, nothing but the best."

The sophomore, right wing from Calgary, Alb. tallied 23 goals and 46 points, the highest totals for the Green and Gold in 21 seasons.

A First-team ECAC Hockey All-Star, Rempal was the third-leading scorer overall in the conference. He led Clarkson in game-winning goals (5) and was a key contributor on Clarkson's highly rated power play with a team-high six goals on the man-advantage and posted a + 19 plus/minus rating, tied for third on the squad. Rempal recorded seven points during Clarkson's six-game postseason run, including the overtime game-winning goal against Harvard in the conference semifinals (3/16) and was named to the ECAC Hockey Championship All-Tournament team. He recorded 16 multiple-point outings, including seven games with two or more goals in 2017-18.

Rempal accumulated 69 career points (34-35) in 78 games at Clarkson.

Clarkson's leading scorer last season, Sam Vigneault also left early, singing with the Columbus Blue Jackets at the conclusion of his junior campaign in 2016-17.
