After a close first half, the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team was unable to keep up with undefeated William Smith and fell 4-0 on Saturday afternoon on Hantz Turf Field.

Clarkson falls to 4-8-0 overall and 0-4-0 in the Liberty League while top-ranked William Smith improves to 12-0-0 and 4-0-0 in the conference.

In the first half, Clarkson was able to keep the high scoring William Smith offense out of sync. Unfortunately, in the 32nd minute, a William Smith cross bounced off a Clarkson defender and found the back of Clarkson's net.

The Golden Knights had a chance to tie the game in the 37th minute when Madison Kather made a long run past two Heron defenders, but Kather's shot from the top of the box was saved.

In the second half, William Smith struck quickly to put the game out of reach. In the 48th minute, another William Smith cross, this time from Emma Diehl, ricocheted off a Clarkson defender and fell to Megan Richard who scored. Richard added a second goal in the 51st minute when she scored off a corner kick. The Herons added one more goal in the 58th minute when Evie Manning scored off Kara Shue's cross from the left wing.

William Smith held a 17-2 advantage in shots. The Herons took all seven of the game's corner kicks. Elyse Green made eight stops while Veronica Romines made two stops in 75 minutes of action. Alessandra Bryan played the final 15 minutes for William Smith.

Clarkson's next game will be when on October 14th when the Green and Gold host RPI.
