Canton, NY – Four players finished in double figures as the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team rallied from a slow start to shoot 62.1% in the second half and claimed a 58-41 victory over St. Lawrence in Liberty League action Tuesday night at Burkman Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights improved to 6-4 on the season with their first league win of the season, while St. Lawrence dropped to 3-7 and 1-2 in conference games. Both teams will head to the Capitol District this weekend to face Rensselaer and Union.

Neither team got off to a particularly quick start, but St. Lawrence was especially slow in the early going, shooting only 1-for-10 in the first 10 minutes for four points, allowing Clarkson to gain a 10-4 advantage at the end of the first period. The second quarter was more to the Saints' liking as they ended the half with a one-point lead. Clarkson struggled from the field in the second quarter, shooting just 3-for-15 with four turnovers.

Though the teams would trade baskets in the first moments of the second half, the third and fourth quarters belonged to Clarkson. While St. Lawrence was shooting 9-for-25 in the second half, the Golden Knights made mid-range shots and buckets from the outside. The key for the Knights came late in the third quarter, when Clarkson led by just seven. With time winding down in the period, Stephanie Grobe momentarily lost the ball, but was able to gather herself and buried a 3-pointer. Due to the possession arrow point their direction, the Knight got the ball to start the fourth quarter and immediately expanded their lead to 12. While St. Lawrence would made the margin dwindle back into single digits a few minutes later, Clarkson continued to hit shots from the perimeter, making five 3-pointers overall in the final 10 minutes.

Freshman Molly Stewart led the Golden Knights with 13 points, shooting 5-for-9 from the floor, finishing as one of four Clarkson players in double figures. Senior Stephanie Grobe tossed in 11 points on 5-for-9 shooting and tacked on seven rebounds and five assists, while classmate Kathleen Coloney matched her rate from the field at 5-for-9 for 10 points, adding eight rebounds as well. Junior Devin Sorell produced 10 points and also contributed four assists.

For St. Lawrence, Cara Waterson went 4-for-10 for a team-high 10 points, while Jenny Scudder scored seven points.
