A late goal cost the fourth-ranked Clarkson University Women's Hockey team as the Golden Knights tied Syracuse 2-2 on Friday night.

Clarkson is now 14-3-4 on the season and Syracuse is 5-7-5.

Syracuse took the lead with 5:59 into the game. Heather Schwarz scored with Allie Munroe getting the assist.

Clarkson tied the game on a connection between the captains. Co-captain Cayley Mercer scored off a pass from her fellow captain Savannah Harmon at 15:37 in the first. The Golden Knights took the lead 5:27 into the second period on a goal by Ella Shelton, with Amanda Titus getting the assist.

Clarkson held the 2-1 throughout the second period and deep into the third. However, with just 1:59 left in the game, Alysha Burriss was able to score to tie the game.

With the game tied, the teams went to overtime. Both teams had chances to win the game in the extra period, with Clarkson taking three shots and Syracuse two, but neither could score and the game ended in a deadlock.

Syracuse had a narrow 23-22 edge in shots. Both teams went 0-for-3 on the power-play. Shea Tiley made 21 saves for Clarkson while Abbey Miller had 20 stops for Syracuse.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 pm in Cheel Arena.
