Potsdam, NY - An all-around effort from virtually every member of the Clarkson University Swimming team provided the Golden Knights with lopsided victories in the dual meet against SUNY Potsdam on Friday afternoon at Fuller Pool.

The Golden Knights' men claimed a 61-point win 143.5-82.5 and the Clarkson women won by 60 points as well, 141-81. It was the first victory for the Golden Knights' women against Potsdam since 2009.

Clarkon's women had four different swimmers claim victories in two individual events as the Knights dominated throughout the meet. Junior Sarah Halstead won the 50 freestyle (29.95 seconds) and 100 backstroke (1:12.45) and sophomore Kayla Weckesser took the top spots in the 400 freestyle (5:16.42) and 100 breaststroke (1:23.79). Freshmen Brooke Atkinson and Lauren Grasberger also each won two events, with Atkinson claiming the honors in two specialty events, the 400 individual medley (5:40.64) and 100 btterfly (1:12.94) and Grasberger touching the pad first in two freestyle races, the 200 (2:27.93) and 100 (1:08.10). Sophomore Tiffany Catano won the 800 freestyle to start the day for the Knights (10:51.41). Clarkson's 400 medley relay also finished first in 4:56.30, thanks to Catano, Atkinson, Grasberger and Halstead.

The men's depth allowed for an equally dominant win as the team started with a victory in the 400 medley relay (4:11.96) with Nick Short, Jon Ketcham, Chris Bankaitis and Chris Bay leading the way. Short was the lone Clarkson swimmer to win more than one event, taking the top spot in the 400 individual medley (5:04.42) and 100 backstroke (1:04.02). However, the Knights won all but two of the individual events thanks to victories from Sam Zwierzchowski, who won the 800 freestyle (9:53.09), Gavin Lopata, who finished first in the 200 freestyle (2:06.45), Chris Bankaitis, who came in first in the 100 butterfly (1:03.95), and Jon Ketcham, who had the best time in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.00). Freshman William Delaney also had the top score in the 3-meter dive (151.55).
