Rochester, NY – Over its previous six games the Clarkson University Softball team averaged more than 10 runs per game, but on Saturday the Golden Knights' bats were for the most part silenced as the Green and Gold was swept by RIT 4-3 and 2-1.

The Golden Knights dropped to 17-7 overall and 2-2 in the Liberty League, while the Tigers improved to 10-12 and 3-3.

It took a walk-off hit for RIT to gain victory in the first game, though the Tigers did score first in the contest. Emily Lazarus delivered a two-out single to score Tori Blaker in the bottom of the second to give RIT a 1-0 lead. However, Clarkson would gain the lead in the top of the fourth with a pair of runs on an Erika Jensen double. Summer Lancette started things off with a bunt single and stole second and third base, while Liz Caggiano and Sara Armstrong each walked to load the bases and set the stage for Jensen's hit. In the next frame, Jamie Bridge produced an infield single to plate Raeanna Dunn and give Clarkson a 3-1 edge. The Tigers chipped away with a run in the bottom half of the sixth as Blaker led off with a triple and came home on an Alexandria Lunderman single. While she scored the previous two runs for the Tigers, it was Blaker that provided the heroics in the bottom of the seventh, when she ended the game with a one-out two-run double to make the score 4-3.

Katie Pelton was saddled with the loss for Clarkson, pitching 6.1 innings and striking out four. Bridge was the only player with multiple hits for Clarkson, going 2-for-4. Blaker was 2-for-3 with two runs and two more driven in for RIT, while Danielle Hotz and Lunderman also had two hits in three at bats. Sierra Valentine claimed the win, allowing eight hits and four walks while striking out seven in seven innings of work.

In game two the offense was even more stunted with just three players circling the bases between the two teams. Clarkson scored first with a run in the top of the fourth as Jamie Bridge singled and advanced to third on consecutive groundouts, allowing Chelsea Elliott to drive her home with a double to left-center. Bridge kept the Tigers off the board until the bottom of the sixth. Blaker singled up the middle and moved to second on a sac bunt, and Sam Killian reached on an error and stole second to set the stage for Lunderman, who drove home both with a double. Clarkson went quickly in the top of the seventh and RIT came away with two one-run victories.

Bridge pitched six innings and struck out four in her time in the circle, while she also was 2-for-3 at the plate. Blaker was 2-for-3 as the lone RIT player with a multi-hit game. Lauren Mahar pitched seven innings, striking out eight and allowing just four this and three walks.
