CU men's swimmers break streak versus Oswego

Oswego, NY – For the second straight week the Clarkson University Swimming team relied upon its youth, and the Golden Knights were able to take down Oswego State for the first time in over a decade, while the women dropped their decision to the Lakers on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights' men claimed a 140-103 decision, while the women fell 161-78. Clarkson will be back at home in Fuller Pool next weekend when they take on St. Michael's College.

Freshman Jacob Baker won both of his starts once again, claiming top honors in the 200 individual medley (2:05.42) and the 100 backstroke (56.13). Classmates Benjamin Thibert won the 100 freestyle (49.92) and Benjamin Vondrak finished things off with a victory in the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.40. Senior Chris Bay also tallied a first-place finish for the Knights, taking the 50 freestyle in 22.37 seconds. Clarkson also won both of the relays, as the team of Baker, Vondrak, John Magnuson and Connor Maloney won the 200 medley relay in 1:43.12, and Thibert, Nicholas Lenfant, Gavin Lopata combined for a win in the 200 freestyle in 1:29.76.

On the women's side, just sophomore Lauren Grasberger was able to gain a first-place finish. Grasberger won the 100 backstroke in 1:05.43 and also came in second in the 200 individual medley.
