Saratoga Springs, NY – Junior Ryan DaRin scored five points overall and senior J.R. Campbell scored twice in the fourth quarter to lift the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team to a 13-8 Liberty League victory over Skidmore College Saturday evening.

The Golden Knights improved to 4-10 overall and 2-4 in the Liberty League, and the team will close out the regular season next Saturday when it hosts Rensselaer.

The two teams played even for the majority of the first half, trading goals for 24 minutes, but DaRin finally broke the string when he continued a five-goal run by Clarkson with a tally at the 48-second mark near the close of the first half. That little push of two straight goals combined with three consecutive scores at the start of the third quarter and helped Clarkson turn a one-goal deficit into a four-goal lead (8-4). Skidmore broke a 19-minute scoring drought at 7:09 in the third, but Clarkson responded with two goals, one coming at the end of the third and another at the start of the fourth.

The Thoroughbreds closed to within three (10-7) with a goal just 10 seconds after Mark Uhlig tallied at 12:59, but Clarkson's defense did the job, holding Skidmore to just one more goal in the final 12-plus minutes to preserve the 13-8 victory.

DaRin scored five points on four goals and an assist and the junior also recorded three groundballs. Campbell scored three times, and Ryan St. Croix produced four points on a goal and three assists. Mark Uhlig, Shane Kilday, and Scott Dosser each had a goal and an assist for Clarkson. Nicholas Lenta was dominant on faceoffs, winning 16 of his 23 tries and adding in eight groundballs. Marc Simmons caused a pair of turnovers and also scooped up seven groundballs. In the Clarkson crease, Nick Strandholm enjoyed one of his better games of 2016 by stopping 16 of the 24 shots he faced.

For Skidmore, Ryan Warnock had three goals and eight groundballs, Kevin Mulvey produced three points on two goals and an assist and Jack Howat added five groundballs. Chris Baughan made 11 saves in goal for the Thoroughbreds.
