Oswego, NY – Jamir Ferebee hit a 3-pointer with less than a minute remaining in overtime to lift Oswego State to a 72-71 victory over the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team Tuesday night.

The Golden Knights fell to 2-2 on the season, while Oswego improved to 3-1. Clarkson will return to action this weekend when they compete in the Hamilton Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

Clarkson fell behind in the early going by seven points, but the Golden Knights were able to rally with a solid all-around shooting performance. Drew Zlogar nailed a 3-pointer at the 14:17 mark to tie the score at 11-11, and while Clarkson would trail following the next basket by Oswego for the remainder of the half, the Knights would never let the game get away. Brian Sortino hit a 3-pointer for the Lakers at the buzzer of the first half to give Oswego a four-point edge at the break.

The Knights quickly rallied and tied the game with another 3-pointer from Zlogar, but the rest of the game would see the teams seesaw back and forth with lopsided runs. Trailing by one, Clarkson went on an 11-2 run in a four-minute stretch, capped by a Liam Ellis 3-pointer, to take a 48-40 lead at the 12:55 mark. Oswego responded with a 13-2 run, with a Jamir Ferebee 3-pointer returning the advantage to Oswego (53-50, 8:35 remaining). Oswego would extend its advantage to six points with five minutes remaining, but the Knights scored nine unanswered points with a Conrad Zampier 3-pointer putting Clarkson up 62-59 with 1:39 remaining. Liam Ellis hit a free throw 45 seconds later to give the Knights a four-point edge, but Mykelle Krecko made a layup and finished off the 3-point play with a free throw to pull Oswego within one. Zampier hit a free throw nine seconds later to put Clarkson's margin back to two, but Krecko again delivered with five seconds remaining to send the game to overtime.

In the extra session, Clarkson was up by four (71-67), but Ian Schupp hit two free throws to pull the Lakers within two and Ferebee hit a 3-pointer with 55 seconds left to give Oswego a one-point edge. Clarkson had two more opportunities, but the big shot came at the buzzer when Zampier's 3-pointer was blocked, denying the chance for the win.

Derek Hart scored a career-high 28 points (11-for-20 shooting from the floor) and added seven rebounds and three assists. Drew Zlogar produced a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 8-for-15 from the field, and Conrad Zampier also nearly completed a double-double with 11 points and eight boards. Liam Ellis also kicked in seven points and five assists as the Clarkson starters scored 68 of the team's 71 points. For Oswego, Mykelle Krecko had 21 points and 15 boards, including eight on the offensive end. Jamir Ferebee scored 17 points and Ian Schupp tossed in 13 points to go along with five assists. Oswego had 20 offensive rebounds and scored 16 points on their second-chance opportunities.
