Kevin Tansey, a standout defenseman for the Clarkson University Hockey team, who graduated this past May, has agreed to terms with the Missouri Mavericks of the East Coast Hockey League on a standard player contract for the 2016-17 season.

Tansey, a fifth-year senior for the Golden Knights in 2015-16, completed his collegiate career with the Green and Gold by helping to lead Clarkson to a 20-15-3 overall record in 2015-16. This past season, the Hammond, ONT native appeared in 34 games and registered four goals and two assists while also leading the Knights in blocked shots with 49.

The 23-year-old played in 151 career games at Clarkson, recording 12 goals and 22 assists. Tansey was presented with Clarkson's Ironman Award after his sophomore season (2013-14). The award represents the player, who in spite of being bruised, broken, spliced or otherwise hurt, most demonstrated the will and determination to overcome injuries and contribute to the team. He surprised everyone with his standout play after missing all of 2012-13 recovering from injuries suffered in a late-summer assault in his hometown. Tansey has been named to the ECAC Hockey All-Academic team and was a nominee for the 2016 HOCKEY HUMANITARIAN AWARD.

Following the completion of his senior season, Tansey signed an amateur tryout with the American Hockey League's Binghamton Senators and logged nine penalty minutes in 11 games.
