CU Golfers in the middle of the pack at Duke Nelson Invitational

Middlebury, VT – Through 18 holes the Clarkson University Golf team finds itself in the middle of the pack of the 33rd annual Duke Nelson Invitational, as the Golden Knights shot 313 as a team on the first day of the event held at Middlebury's Ralph Myhre Golf Course.

The Golden Knights scored 313, just two shots behind ninth place Trinity (CT). Skidmore leads the field with a score of 296, followed by Middlebury (297), Amherst (302), Rochester (306), a second Middlebury team (306), Tufts (308), Babson (309), Rensselaer (309), Trinity (311), Clarkson (313), Salem State (314), Manhattanville (314), St. Lawrence (315), Springfield (315), UMass-Dartmouth (315), Western New England (317), Williams (320), Hamilton (320), Johnson & Wales (326), Potsdam State (329), Castleton State (332), Wesleyan (346).

Among the 114 golfers at the event, freshman Chris Rust currently sits in a tie for eighth place with a score of 74 and sophomore Brad Belote is tied for 19th with a round of 76. Junior Brian Billings shot 81 and is tied for 68th, while sophomore Thomas Conroy shot 82 to place in a tie for 78th and round out the Knights opening day of scoring. Junior Anthony Monteleone had one of his better days in 2016, shooting 84 to place in a tie for 97th.
