Canton, NY – Through 18 holes of the St. Lawrence Invitational, the Clarkson University Golf team finds itself in fourth place among 10 teams after a day's worth of scoring at the Olvier D. Appleton Golf Course.
The Golden Knights are just three strokes out of third with a first-day score of 311. The tournament will resume at 8:00 am on Sunday.
Clarkson saw three of its golfers shoot sub-80 on the opening day, led by junior Brad Belote, who fired a 74 and is currently situated in a tie for fourth among the 55 competitors, just three strokes off the pace. Classmate Thomas Conroy is tied for 14th after an opening round 78 and sophomore Chris Rust is in the middle of the pack following his 79. Freshman Graem DeLong rounded out Clarkson's team scoring with an 80, while his classmate Cameron Anthony also shot an 83.
Playing as an individual, Andrew Leek shot a 75 and is currently tied for eighth, though he was among the leaders through 14 holes before slipping late. Jonah Miller also shot 85 in his first crack at the St. Lawrence course.
