With two wins to start a four game series against Skidmore, the Clarkson University Baseball team is above .500 for the first time this season.

Clarkson is now 14-13 on the season with a 9-5 Liberty League record. Skidmore drops to 10-19 overall and 5-13 in league play.

Two rallies, one very early and one very late, gave Clarkson a 6-2 win in the opener. Anthony Padrazo walked to start the first inning and then moved to second on a Will Coleman sacrifice bunt. After Greg Jasek reached on an error, Chris Miller's single scored Padrazo for the first run of the game. Brad Pearson followed with a sacrifice fly to left field to score Jasek and then Miller trotted home on a double by Dom Pirro.

Skidmore got on the scoreboard with a run in the fourth and then added another in the sixth to cut Clarkson's lead to just one. The Golden Knights put together another big inning in their half of the sixth to give themselves breathing room though. With one out, Pirro walked and then Connor Martin singled. Ben Knauf then reached on a Skidmore error with Pirro scoring on the play. Connor Dietrich laid down a sacrifice bunt that scored Nolan Duda who had pinch ran for Martin. Finally, Knauf scored on a passed ball to extend the margin to 6-2.

Eddie Miller earned the win for Clarkson, upping his record to 3-1 this season. Miller pitched six innings and allowed just two unearned runs on three hits and five walks. Miller finished with eight strikeouts. Ryan Riley came in and pitched a perfect seventh inning to close out the game.

In the second game, Clarkson broke open a tie game with an eight run fifth inning to coast to a 15-4 win.

It was Skidmore who struck first with three runs in the top half of the first on three hits and one Clarkson error. Clarkson came right back with four runs in the bottom half on three hits and three Skidmore errors. Skidmore tied the game at four with a single run in the top of the third.

Clarkson's big fifth inning started with a ringing double by Pearson to right field. Two batters later, Martin singled to right center to score Pearson. After Martin moved to second on a Skidmore error, Knauf singled to put runners on first and third with one out. A Knauf stolen base was quickly followed by a two RBI single by Dietrich. After a Skidmore pitching change, Padrazo worked a walk and then Coleman reached on an error to load the bases. Jasek worked a walk to score Dietrich. After an out, Pearson came up for his second at-bat of the inning and cleared the bases with a triple to right center. Pirro followed him with a single up the middle to make the score 12-4.

Clarkson added two more runs in the seventh, including an RBI double from Pirro. The Green and Gold scored their final run in the eighth when Jasek hit a towering home run over the left field fence. It was the second home run of the season for Jasek.

Ted Wilson threw eight innings to get his team-high fourth win of the season. He allowed four runs, two of them earned, on eight hits and two walks. Rory Corcoran came in to pitch the ninth and did not allow a baserunner.

The two teams will play two more games tomorrow with the first pitch set for 12:00 noon.
