Biddeford, ME – Karley Cree (Hogansburg, NY) netted her ninth of the season just 11 seconds into the third period to lead the women's hockey team to a 1-1 overtime tie Friday evening at the Harold Alfond Forum.

The two teams were unable to get into the scoring column during the first two periods, but the Kangaroos finally broke the drought very early in the third. After the opening face-off, freshman Rhea Coad (Wheatfield, NY) centered the puck from the right circle to Cree, who one-timed the feed from her position in front of the cage beating UNE net minder Sydney Helmbrecht.

The Nor'easters would respond just four minutes later as Jenni Poulin placed a wrist-shot from the left circle just inside the far post. Melissa Boudreau set-up Poulin's ninth marker of the year. UNE nearly came away victorious in the closing stages, but Roo freshman goaltender Shayna Dominique (Mistissini, QUE) denied a point-blank offering from Big Blue sophomore Shannon Reynolds with less than two minutes remaining.

Dominique, who finished with 38 saves after entering the game midway through the first period, also had a couple of quality stops in the overtime period to preserve a tie for SUNY Canton (6-12-3). Becca Kieffer (Lee Center, NY) stopped five shots over the first 10 plus minutes of play.

Freshman Sydney Helmbrecht had 20 stops for the Nor'easters (5-9-4). Neither team scored on the power play in a contest that saw just six penalties.

Both teams will face-off against one another tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Harold Alfond Forum
