Nick Crawford won the 400-meter hurdles and contributed to the winning 4x400 relay to lead the St. Lawrence University men's outdoor track and field team at the Cardinal Classic at St. John Fisher on Saturday afternoon.

Crawford posted a season-best time of 58.74 seconds in the 400 hurdles, improving his ECAC qualifying time by nearly a half a second. He was 0.79 seconds ahead of the University of Rochester's Brandt Crouse, who finished second.

Crawford was joined by Harrison Stivers, Travis Hamre and Daniel Viscardi on the winning 4x400, with the Saints outpacing second-place Buffalo State by nearly a second.

Thomas Caulfield added a second-place finish in the 1,500 for the Saints, crossing the line in 3:56.46, while Sidi Abdoulaye snuck under the four-minute mark in the distance for the first time in his career, finishing fifth with an ECAC qualifying time of 3:59.92.

Jevaughn Sinclair finished second in the 100, finishing just 0.07 second off his best time of the season despite a 1.0 mile-per-hour head wind, while William Merchant was third in the javelin with a throw of 50.77 meters.

Elijah Wickland-Shearer dropped nearly a half a second off his PR in the 400 to finish fifth in 51.13, and Joe Smith was fifth in the 800 in 1:58.46.

No team scores were kept at the event.

Several members of the team did not compete on Saturday, as they were resting up for the New York State Collegiate Track Conference decathlon competition, which will take place at Nazareth on Sunday and Monday.
