POTSDAM -- Jackie De Luise scored on a hard shot from the top of the box to the far corner of the goal with just under 11 minutes to go in regulation time to lift SUNY Cortland to a 1-0 win over St. Lawrence in the season opener for both teams at Clarkson University on Friday evening.
Amanda Margolis assisted on the lone goal in what was an even game statistically as Cortland goalkeeper Pam Monnier and Saint senior keeper Abby van Geldern each had four saves in the contest.
Cortland finished with a 15-10 overall advantage in shots and each team had two corner kicks in the opener.
The Saints will play SUNYIT in game two of the season on Saturday at Clarkson while the host Golden Knights, a 3-0 winner in Friday's first game, will take on Cortland.
