CORNWALL, Ont. -- The Cornwall River Kings pre-season record is now 1-3 after dropping a close tilt at home Saturday in front of 1,975 fans.
A two-goal performance by Troi Rivieres’ Marc-Andre Huot led the Caron Guay to a 2-1 victory.
Trois-Rivieres came into the game with only 15 skaters.
The first period saw a chess match with no scoring, not many shots or even hits.
The action got started quickly in the second after Trois-Rivieres opened to scoring at the 37 seconds mark on Huot`s first goal of the night. A Steve Simoes scrap with Samuel Drouin seemed to spark the River Kings who tied the game at one on a Steve McJannett goal.
In the third, fresh out of the penalty box, Huot was sent in alone and netted his second of the night and the game winner with 6:01 remaining. Loic Lacasse was in goal for the River Kings stopping 33 of 35 shots earning third star honours.
His counterpart for the Caron-Guay, David Guerrera, .,was the second star and Trois-Rivieres` Huot earned first star.
