Canton, NY – Junior Kelsy Cornish (Honeoye, NY) had a monster day finishing with 30 kills as the SUNY Canton women's volleyball team earned a pair of sweeps v. SUNY Delhi and the University of Maine Fort Kent at their home tournament on Saturday.

The Roos (22-7) earned a 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-15) victory over the Broncos before defeating the Bengals in straight sets 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-15).

Match 1 – Box

The Roos jumped out to a quick 7-0 start v. the Broncos in the opener and never looked back taking the opening set 25-11. The team continued its hot hitting in the second and third sets with 27 kills as the Roos hit .415 as a team on 82 attack attempts in the match.

Kelsy Cornish (Honeoye, NY) tied a career-high leading all players with 16 kills in the match. Morgan Bills (Walworth, NY) tallied 11 kills, while Morgan Wicks (Hartford, NY) posted four putdowns in what was a balanced SUNY Canton attack. Peyton Robinson (Bloomfield, NY) dished out 35 assists and added a match-high 11 digs, while Lindsay Bryer (Wilson, NY) pinpointed five service aces.

Match 2 – Box

The first set was back-and-forth before the Roos pulled away late for a 25-16 victory behind 17 kills and a .318 hitting percentage. Maine Fort Kent played some of its best volleyball of the day in the second set as SUNY Canton held on late for the two set lead. The Roos used the momentum from the second stanza to cruise 25-15 in the third.

Cornish once again led the way flooring a match-best 14 kills on a 3.06 hitting percentage. Bills had another solid outing with 11 kills, while Haley Riley (Lowville, NY) recorded nine kills. Jenea Shoemaker (Walworth, NY) was just two kills short of her career-high finishing off points. Robinson assisted 43 kills, while Carroll notched 20 digs.

The women's volleyball team will return to action on Sunday at 11 a.m. when they host Alfred State College in the Roos House on Senior Day.
