Junior Connor Brimley scored three goals and fellow junior Jon Fairbanks added a pair of goals leading the St. Lawrence University Men's Lacrosse team to an 11-7 victory over SUNY Plattsburgh Wednesday night in snowy and windy conditions in Plattsburgh.

Andrew Jarrett, Fairbanks and Jeremy Vautour scored goals to put St. Lawrence ahead 3-2 but the Cardinals scored with 44 second remaining in the first quarter to knot the score at 3-3.

In the second quarter, the Saints scored all five goals in the period as Brimley scored his first of the game followed by goals for Charlie Duprey, Sam Sweeney, Brett McCormack and Austin Nadeau as St. Lawrence took an 8-3 lead.

In the third quarter, Brimley scored both St. Lawrence goals and Plattsburgh scored once to give the Saints a 10-4 lead with just 15 minutes left to play.

The Cardinals scored 45 seconds into the final quarter to trim the lead to 10-5 but Fairbanks added his second goal of the game on a man-up situation as St. Lawrence regained the six-goal lead with less than five minutes left on the clock.

Plattsburgh scored twice in the closing minutes but the St. Lawrence defense forced a key turnover to prevent any further comeback attempt by the Cardinals.

The Saints forced 19 turnovers in the game and had 12 caused turnovers as Jack Roberts, AJ Schmidt and Alec Dietsch each recorded a pair of caused turnovers for the Saints. Roberts also had a team-leading six ground balls.

Conor Healey handed out six assists to lead the Saints in points while Brimley added three points and the duo of Fairbanks and Jamie DeNicola recorded two points each.

The Saints return to Liberty League play Saturday at Bard with a game scheduled for noon.
