Senior Mackenzie Collins tallied the game's only goal on a cold and rainy day dedicated to honoring her and five of her classmates, as the Saints celebrated their senior day with a 1-0 win over Skidmore on Sandy MacAllaster Field.

"The team played with a lot of heart today," Head Coach Franco Bari said. "The work rate was fantastic and it was very nice to see a senior score the winning goal on senior day. I'm very proud of this group."

After a scoreless first half in which the Thoroughbreds and Saints traded off holding possession for an extended period of time, Collins finally broke through with her third of the season to give the Scarlet and Brown a 1-0 lead.

The play started when a shot by Lindsey Geier was blocked at the top of the box by a Skidmore defender. Sophomore back Amy Reunert was able to gain possession and sent a pass ahead to Collins in the right hand corner of the box 15 yards out. The East Longmeadow, Mass. native touched the ball around a defender and ripped a bending strike inside the far post and past Thoroughbreds keeper Deirdre Walsh to lead the Saints to victory.

The Saints nearly jumped out in front in the 10th minute, but a shot by junior Emily DePoy from 25 yards out rang off the crossbar and Skidmore was able to clear the zone and thwart the Saints attack.

Both goalkeepers, Walsh for Skidmore and junior Kelsey West for St. Lawrence, finished with three saves on the afternoon.

With the win, St. Lawrence improves to 10-5-1 on the season and 3-3-1 against Liberty League opponents. The Thoroughbreds are now 5-7-2 and 2-3-2 in the conference.

Laura Topf, Nyssa LaClair, Holly Wark, Alexandra Weatherbie, Elena Dauphinais and Collins were all joined by their parents on the field for pre-game ceremony. Dauphinais, who played three seasons with the Saints, has been unable to compete this season due to injury, but has been with the team the whole way as a player-coach.

St. Lawrence will close out the home portion of its regular season schedule with a Tuesday game against SUNY Potsdam at 3:00 p.m.
