Colgate continued a string of success against St. Lawrence on Friday night, snapping a 2-2 tie late in the second period and going on to a 5-2 win over the Saints in a ECAC Hockey game at Starr Rink.

The sixth-ranked Raiders, which swept the Saints in four games last year improve to 8-3-0 overall and 2-1-0 in league play while the Saints, 6-4-1 overall and 2-1-0 in the league had a three game win streak and four-game unbeaten streak snapped. It was the first loss by more than a goal for the Saints since the opening weekend of the season.

The Raiders took advantage of their opportunities and a couple of bounces along the way, while the Saints had two shots go off the crossbar and several other good bids stymied by Colgate sophomore goalie Charlie Finn.

While the Saints played a solid first period, Colgate came out of the first 20 minutes with a 2-0 lead. Sophomore wing Andrew Black put back his own rebound for the game's first goal 1:10 into play and the Raiders added a power play goal on a screened shot from the point by junior defenseman Ryan Johnston at 11:11.

St. Lawrence had its chances and had a good response to the early Colgate goal, but Finn made some big saves and the Saints nicked a couple of posts as they were unable to cut into the lead.

The Saints battled back to tie it in the second period and continued to take the play to the Raiders. Eric Sweetman put the Saints on the board as he intercepted a Colgate clearing pass and sent a shot on goal from the point which beat Finn to the upper right corner 1:18 into the period. Sean McGovern tied it when he took the puck from Tommy Thompson and went in on Finn on a shorthanded breakaway, scoring his fourth in the last three games at 16:44 to tie it at 2-2.

Colgate retook the lead after a turnover deep in the Saint end as defenseman Jake Kulevich scored his second of the year at 19:00 with a shot which went in off a Saint stick. The Saints appeared to have tied it again with six seconds left, but the goal was waved off and the call stood after video review.

Colgate opened a 4-2 lead at 13:40 of the third when Tyson Spink picked up a loose puck off the boards after a dump in by Spiro Goulakos and tucked his sixth of the year past Kyle Hayton at 13:40 and it went to 5-2 when Kyle Baun scored an unassisted power play goal, picking up the puck off a Saint block and walking in on Hayton for his sixth of the year at 18:13.
