Colgate sophomore center Tylor Spink scored a pair of goals and sophomore defenseman Ryan Johnston scored his first collegiate goal for the game winner as the Raiders upended 17th-ranked St. Lawrence 5-3 in a ECAC Hockey game at Appleton Arena Friday night.

Colgate won at SLU's Appleton Arena for the first time since February of 2008, snapping a seven-game winless streak in Canton, and snapped a four-game unbeaten streak in league play by the Saints. The Raiders improve to 5-6-1 overall and 3-2-0 in the ECAC, while the Saints are now 6-3-2 overall and 2-1-2 in the ECAC.

The Saints jumped out to leads twice, but a hard-working Colgate team had an answer each time, and other than the first goal of the game, the Raiders were able to keep the lid on the Saint scoring duo of Matt and Greg Carey to help earn the victory.

SLU opened the scoring on freshman Matt Carey's ninth of the season from his brother and Chris Martin 5:25 into play, but Colgate answered just 2:08 later when sophomore defenseman Kevin Lough picked up his own rebound and scored his first goal of the season.

Saint sophomore Alex Hagen made it a 2-1 game 2:53 into the second period with his third of the year on a shot which went in off the post, but the lead lasted less than two minutes as Spink scored his first of the night and sixth of the year at 4:37 from his twin brother Tyson and Jake Kulevich. Tylor Spink then put Colgate up 3-2 on a power play at 8:33 as he threaded a shot through a screen and inside the near post for his second of the game.

Defenseman Justin Baker scored his third of the year on a power play from Pat Doherty and Eric Sweetman with 30.5 seconds to play in the second period to make it a 3-3 game after 40 minutes.

Johnston scored the game winner on a bomb from the top of the faceoff circle after the Saints were unable to complete a clear at 5:18 of the third and Andrew Black iced the win with his fourth of the year into the empty net at 19:22.

Colgate outshot the Saints, who had four shots go off the posts or crossbar in the game, 30-21 with Matt Weninger making 25 saves for SLU and Eric Mihalik finishing with 18 for Colgate.
