Colby, Bates hand Saints women's squash team 7-2 losses

Jill Baker and Zoe Kagan came away with wins for the St. Lawrence University women's squash team in its match at Colby Saturday, but the Mules won the match 7-2 with the help of three five-game wins. Kagan won her match again on Sunday, but 18th-ranked Bates prevailed 7-2 as the Saints went 0-3 on their Maine trip.

Colby, ranked 23rd nationally, improves to 2-2 on the season and Bates is now 2-6 while the Saints are 1-6 heading into a Tuesday match at Middlebury

Baker was a 3-0 winner over Devin Mullaney, 11-5, 14-12 and 11-3 at one while Kagan beat Helen Bernhard 11-9, 11-9, 11-4 at three at Colby.

Colby's Julie Wolpow beat Emily Terry 3-2 at two, winning game one 12-10 before Terry took a lead with two 11-7 wins. Wolpow then tied it with a 11-8 win in game four and won game five 11-9. Other five-game match wins for Colby came at six where Elise O'Brien beat the Saints Cristina de la Vega 6-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-5, 11-3 and at eight with Ren Robinson edging Allie Brazo 11-6, 5-11, 5-11, 12-10, 11-7.

Mikaela Johnson of Colby beat Lizzie Lasusa 11-5, 11-4, 11-7 at four, Cricket Di Galoma beat Alex Matamoros Infante 9-11, 11-7, 11-9, 11-3 at five, Caroline Pelham of Colby beat Lo Batista 11-7, 12-10, 11-4 at seven and Lily Wain beat Sarah Neilson 14-12, 11-7, 12-10 at nine.

Kagan was a 11-2, 11, 5, 11-4 winner over Katie Bull at Colby and Val Quan beat Hannah Conner 11-5, 11-6, 11-6 at nine for the Saint wins at Bates.

Baker lost 3-2 to Kristyna Alexova 7-11, 11-6, 11-7, 5-11, 11-4 at one while Bates' Vicky Arjoon beat Terry 3-1, 11-5, 11-5, 9-11, 11-7 at two. Molly Brooks beat Lasusa 11-8, 11-9, 11-9 at four, Emma Dunn was a 11-8, 11-5,11-7 winner over Infante at five, Lauren Williams beat de la Vega 11-3, 11-1,11-3 at six, Charlotte Cabow beat Batista 11-4, 11-7, 11-0 at seven and Blair Weintraub was a 11-3, 11-6, 11-5 winner over Brazo at eight.
