Jennifer Shields, a freshman defenseman on the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team, has been named ECAC Hockey/Fischer-Hockey Rookie of the Month for December.
Shields helped the Golden Knights to a 4-0 record in December with strong play on the Clarkson blue-line. The Ingersoll, Ontario native posted a plus-8 as Clarkson allowed only three goals on 81 shots in four games, including two shutouts. Shields also recorded two assists.
The Knights resume action after a 24-day break when they play at seventh-ranked Northeastern at Matthews Arena in Boston on Thursday, and battle fourth-ranked Boston College at Conte Forum on Friday. Both games begin at 3:00 p.m.
Clarkson has won its last five games and stands at 12-4-4 overall.
