Senior guard Felix Llanos (Queens, NY) continued his strong season for the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team last week, averaging 18.0 points per game in a pair of wins, and was picked as a Liberty League Performer of the Week for the third time in the 2011-12 season on Monday.
Llanos, a senior guard and captain for the Golden Knights, had one of his best performances of the season on Friday against Morrisville, scoring 27 points, with 20 coming in the second half, in a come-from-behind victory over the Mustangs. For the week, he averaged 18.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game in two victories.
Overall, Llanos is posting outstanding numbers through seven games. He leads the Liberty League in scoring by a wide margin (22.9 points per game), field goals (57), and 3-point field goals (27). He is one of only three players in the entire conference to have recorded 40 field goals this year, leading the next competitor, teammate John Coleman, by more than 20 percent. Llanos is all over the conference leaderboards outside the scoring realm as well, averaging 4.3 rebounds (t-19th), 2.6 assists (14th), and 1.9 steals (t-6th).
Clarkson is 6-1 through the first seven games and will not return to action until after the New Year, when the team participates in the NYU Tournament.
