For the third time in four weeks, junior David Kinney (Mexico, NY) has been selected from the Clarkson University Baseball team as the Liberty League Performer of the Week, thanks to an impressive run against Skidmore this past weekend.
Kinney, who shared the honor with two other players, has been a force in conference games this season, and that run continued against Skidmore. Kinney batted .500 with a pair of home runs and three doubles against Thoroughbreds' pitching, including the first home run of the season off Skidmore ace Nick Laracuente. He drove in five runs and scored six times en route to a 1.063 slugging percentage.
Kinney is among the conference leaders in numerous categories, and specifically leads the league in doubles (16), home runs (5), and slugging (.731). He broke the single-season Clarkson marks for extra-base hits (23) and doubles (16) this past weekend.
Clarkson currently stands in second place, just one game out of first, in the Liberty League and hosts Rensselaer in a four-game set this weekend at Jack Phillips Stadium in Potsdam.
