Senior pitcher David Goerold (Clifton Park, NY) of the Clarkson University Baseball team was selected as an ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA District 1 First-Team Academic All-American for the third time in three years last Friday.
Goerold as a member of the District 1 First-Team will move on to the national ballot. He was named as a National Academic All-American last year.
The senior righthander has a 3.99 grade-point average in financial information analysis and will be moving on to graduate school in Virginia next year. This season he has posted a 4-3 record with a 3.91 earned run average. He is among the conference leaders with six complete games, and recently posted his third career shutout for the Golden Knights. Clarkson's all-time leader in innings pitched with 208, he also ranks in the top five all-time at Clarkson in victories (15), shutouts (3), and complete games (15). He was named a Liberty League all-star as both a sophomore and junior.
