Canton, NY - Poor course conditions somewhat slackened scores for the Clarkson University Golf team and a few other squads on Saturday, but the Golden Knights had a better run on a sun-soaked day two at the SLU Invitational and finished fourth among 11 teams at Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course on Sunday afternoon.

Clarkson was four strokes better on Sunday with a two-day total of 620, trailing the first St. Lawrence team (SLU Scarlet, 596), New York University (608), and a second St. Lawrence team (SLU Brown, 615). The Knights out shot Oswego (624), Potsdam (632), a third St. Lawrence team (SLU Saint, 636), SUNY Canton 637, Hamilton (638), Cobleskill (644), and Utica (696).

Tyler Cline (Tuxedo, NY) shot his first fall round over 80 in some time on Saturday when he struggled to an 81, but he was one of only two players in the field to shoot under par on Sunday, going three-under with a 69 on Sunday, finishing seventh overall among 58 golfers in the tournament. Newcomer Jim Greg made a solid first impression by taking 10th place with a score of 152 (74-78) and junior Scott Henning (Vienna, VA) finished in a tie for 14th with a score of 155 (75-80). Juniors Matt Blair (Glens Falls, NY) and Evan Cody (Malta, NY) shot 163 and 164, respectively, to round out Clarkson's top five. Playing as individuals outside of the team scoring format, freshman Anthony Monteleone (Warsaw, NY) was tied for 23rd with a two-day score of 157 (76-81) and classmate Brian Billings (Webster, WI) shot 165 over the two-day tournament.
