POUGHKEEPSIE -- Midway through the second half, Chloe Wheeler was able to convert off a header to lift Vassar to a 1-0 victory over the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team Saturday afternoon at Gordon Field.

The Golden Knights fell to 4-3-2 overall and 0-2-1 in the Liberty League and will play a non-league game on Wednesday at home against crosstown rival Potsdam State. Vassar improved to 7-3-0 and 2-1-0.

A scoreless first half had both teams looking to get just a single goal to break the tie, and it was the Brewers that were able to pick up the game-winner. Vassar's Sarah Bourenane curled a free kick into the box from approximately 40 yards out, and Wheeler was able to redirect the pass into the right side of the net in the 69th minute to put the Brewers up 1-0.

Vassar's Ali Higgins had three saves in the win for the Brewers, while Clarkson goalkeeper Kim Kenline (Akron, NY) had six saves in the loss for the Golden Knights.
