A dominating effort by the Clarkson Women's Soccer team was undone by a late Elmira goal as the Green and Gold lost a 1-0 heartbreaker on the road.

The loss drops Clarkson's record to 2-3-0 while Elmira improves to 2-1-1.

Clarkson started the game just like they had finished their previous two home games. Throughout the first half, Clarkson had Elmira pinned back in their own end and were able to take 10 shots, six of which required a save from Elmira goalkeeper, Gabe Carmona. However, none of these shots were able to find the back of the net and the two teams would head into half-time deadlocked at 0-0.

The second half was back and forth as both teams had good chances to take the lead. The two goalkeepers traded saves throughout the half with Carmona picking up five more and Kim Kenline (Akron,N.Y.) stopping three in the half for Clarkson, to go along with the two saves she had made in the first half.

Just as the game looked to be heading to overtime, Allie Olsen crossed the ball into the Clarkson box where Sara Kazerouni was able to tap in the game winning goal with 3:59 remaining in the game. Clarkson took two more shots and earned a corner kick, but were unable to find the game-tying goal before the final whistle blew.

Clarkson will head to Nazareth College for a 2:00 pm game tomorrow.
