A dominating effort by the Clarkson Women's Soccer team was undone by a late first half goal which allowed the Utica Pioneers to escape Hantz Turf Field with a 1-0 win.

The loss drops Clarkson's record to 1-2-0 while Utica continues its undefeated start to the season and is 3-0-0.

Clarkson dominated possession and the shot totals in the first half, outshooting Utica 11-2 in the half. However, with less than five minutes to play in the half, Utica earned its sole corner and they would capitalize. Keri Berkowitz played the corner onto the head of Maddisen Melley who put it into the net for her third goal of the season.

The Green and Gold would continue to dominate in the second half, taking 13 shots in the period and allowing only one. They would be denied the tying goal though from timely defending and four saves from Utica keeper Kelly Heimerle. Heimierle would finish with seven total saves while Kim Kenline (Akron, N.Y.) recorded two in the Clarkson net. Clarkson held a staggering 24-3 edge in shots and 8-1 in corner kicks.

Clarkson will host Potsdam on Sunday at 5:00 pm.
