A late second half goal was not enough as the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team fell to visting Rochester Institute of Technology 2-1 on Saturday afternoon on Hantz Turf Field.

Clarkson's record now stands at 7-4-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the Liberty League while 15th-ranked RIT improves to 9-1-2 overall and 3-0-1 in conference.

RIT got on the board first. Monique Polanco slipped a through ball to Anka Parzych who was in on goal. Parzych used her left foot to slide a shot home and open the scoring.

Clarkson had a chance to tie the score with less than ten minutes left in the first half. Rachel Loecher swung in a corner kick and the ball fell to the foot of Aubrey Harris. Harris' shot was smothered by RIT goalkeeper Sienna Fisher though, and RIT took a 1-0 lead into the break.

Clarkson continued to push for the equalizer in the second period and in the 63rd minute, the Golden Knights almost found it. Lauren Flynn broke through behind the RIT defense, but her shot from a tight angle was saved by Kelly Rogers and then Summer Gillespie's try rolled just wide of the post.

Just three minutes later, RIT doubled its lead. Polanco pounced on a Clarkson pass and raced in on goal and slipped a shot past onrushing Clarkson goalie Anna Demasi.

The Green and Gold did not fold though, and with nine minutes remaining, Clarkson got on the board. Loecher took a corner from the left side, and her cross got over the goalkeeper's head and crossed the goal line for the first goal of Loecher's career. Clarkson could not find a second goal though, with RIT closing out a 2-1 victory.

RIT finished with a 15-9 edge in shots with both teams taking five corner kicks. Demasi finished with six stops for Clarkson while Fisher had three and Rogers had a pair of saves for RIT.

Clarkson's next game will be when the first road conference game for the team. The Golden Knights will travel to Union for a 4:00 pm game next Friday before heading to Rensselaer for a 4:00 pm game on Saturday.
