In their last game before the start of Liberty League play, the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team lost 2-0 to Oswego State on Friday night.
Clarkson falls to two games under .500 with a 3-5-0 record while Oswego evens out their record at 3-3-0.
Both teams played fairly conservatively in the first half, feeling each other out. This resulted in a 0-0 tie at halftime.
Just 14 minutes after the break, Oswego would break the deadlock. Bri Dolan lifted a free kick into the box from 35 yards out and it found the head of Emma Geyer. Clarkson senior goalkeeper Kim Kenline (Akron, N.Y) was able to get a glove on Geyer's header, but was unable to keep it out of the net.
With only a one goal margin, the next goal became extremely important and it looked like Clarkson would be the one to score it when Madison Kather (Amherst, N.Y.) beat Oswego keeper Alyssa Glasshagel, but Mary Morrison of Oswego was able to clear the ball off the line.
Instead Oswego would get that crucial second goal just over ten minutes from time. Bailey Waterbury worked the ball up to the endline and then crossed it back across the goal mouth for Alexa Restante to tap in and seal the win.
Clarkson will open its Liberty League schedule when it travels to the Rochester Institute of Technology for a 3:00pm game next Saturday.
