A five-goal run by Union College late in the second half derailed a bid by the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team to pick up a key win in Liberty League play as the Dutchwomen defeated the Green and Gold 15-13 at Hantz Turf Field on Friday afternoon.

The Golden Knights, who have dropped four straight, fall to 9-5 overall and are on the outside looking in for the Liberty League playoffs with a 2-4 conference mark. Clarkson plays its final home game of the season on Saturday, hosting Liberty League frontrunner, eighth-ranked William Smith in a 3:00 p.m. game.

Freshmen Abby Collins and Lexi Smith scored back-to-back goals to put Clarkson on top 12-10 with 18:11 left to play, but Union (4-7, 3-3) answered back with five straight tallies to pull ahead 15-12 with just under 10 minutes remaining. Natalie Sullivan scored two of her five goals during the stretch to power the Dutchwomen's burst.

Sophomore Jaid Baytos scored her third of the game and team-high 39th goal of the season with 85 seconds remaining to make it a two-goal game, but time ran out before the Knights could get any closer.

Clarkson held a 9-8 half-time lead.

Abby Collins and Baytos tallied three goals and one assist apiece to pace the Knights' offensively. Senior Kate Dillon also scored three goals. Freshman Katie Sergeant added two goals, while junior Taylor Collins also scored a goal for Clarkson.

Union's Jackie Hagopian led all scorers with seven points, including five goals. Sullivan recorded six points (5-1) for the visitors. Hannah Rosenberger and Cailin Pandolfi tallied two goals each for the Dutchwomen, while Ramsey Walsh found the back of the net once.

Both teams recorded 25 shots. The Knights held the edge in ground balls 17-12, but Union enjoyed a 2-to-1 advantage in draw controls, 20-10. Union's Pandolfi and Clarkson's Taylor Collins both had a game-high five draw controls.

Dillon and junior Abby Gruneisen led the Knights in ground balls with three each, while the Dutchwomen's Jen Hughes and Sullivan also pick up three ground balls apiece.

Hughes made nine saves to record the win in the Union crease.

Clarkson sophomores Samantha Gladd (two) and Carrie Yurkon combined for five saves.
