Freshman Paige Fayette (Theresa, NY) scored six goals and added an assist to power the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team to an 18-6 win over Bard College at Hantz Turf Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Knights, who won for the first time in five games, overcame an early 2-1 deficit to the Raptors (3-10) by scoring 14 of the next 15 goals to take control. Clarkson held an 11-3 lead after 30 minutes and built its margin with four goals to start the second half to hold a 12-goal advantage with 16:32 left to play.
Sophomore Christine Wright (Watertown, NY) tallied three goals and two assists, while sophomore Emma Jeffery (Baldwinsville, NY) also chipped in three goals. Freshman Ashley Flick (Watertown, NY) scored twice, while juniors Jessica Budaj (Windsor, MA) and Abby Doyle (Syracuse, NY), and sophomore Courtney Quinn (Hinsdale, MA) and freshman Rachel Kenyon (Binghamton, NY) produced one goal apiece.
Stephanie LaMont scored five times for Bard.
The Knights outshot Bard 32-15, while the Raptors had the edge in ground balls, 14-12. Junior Cassie Grace (Potsdam, NY) won three draw controls.
Kara DiNatale (Auburn, NH) won her final home game of her career with nine saves on Clarkson's Senior Day. Classmate Adrienne Walker (Syracuse, NY) posted one caused turnover in her final game on Hantz Turf Field.
At 5-10 overall, Clarkson will close out the 2014 campaign with Liberty League action at Skidmore and Rensselaer next Friday and Saturday.
