Clarkson women's lacrosse falls in Liberty League opener

A five-game winning streak came to an end for the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team as the Golden Knights fell 6-4 at RIT on Friday afternoon in their Liberty League opener.

Clarkson, which stands at 5-2 overall, will continue conference play on Saturday when it plays at the University of Rochester in a 2:00 p.m. contest.

The Knights battled RIT (3-4, 1-0) to a 3-3 draw after the opening 30 minutes, but the Tigers scored the first three goals in the second half and held off the Green and Gold at the end to pull out the win at home.

Sophomore Paige Fayette (Theresa, NY) and freshman Taylor Collins (Syracuse, NY) scored one goal and one assist each to pace the Clarkson offense. Juniors Emma Jeffery (Baldwinsville, NY) and Stephanie Lynch (Baldwinsville, NY) scored one goal apiece.

The Knights outshot the Tigers 26-12, while RIT held the edge in ground balls, 16-13.

Dani Tani (Heuvelton, NY) posted four saves in the Clarkson goal.
