Three different Golden Knights scored goals and sophomore Erica Howe (Ottawa, ONT) posted 20 saves as the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team won its fourth straight game with a 3-1 victory at Niagara University on Saturday night.

Clarkson, which has won seven of its last eight games, improves its record to 11-4-4. The Knights close out the 2011 portion of the schedule with Sunday’s 2:00 p.m. contest against Niagara at Dwyer Arena.

With Saturday’s game tied 1-1 after 40 minutes, the Knights gained the road win with a pair of power-play goals in the final period.

Junior Danielle Skirrow (Trenton, ONT) scored her eighth goal of the season for the game-winner while on the man-advantage at 5:23 of the third, finishing off assists from senior Juana Baribeau (Amos, QUE) and junior defenseman Hailey Wood (Lethbridge, ALB). Sophomore Carly Mercer (Exeter, ONT) sealed the win with a power-play marker at 11:11 with classmate Jamie Lee Rattray (Kanata, ONT) setting up the goal.

Clarkson took a 1-0 first-period lead at 14:34 as Baribeau tallied off assists from freshman defenseman Jennifer Shields (Ingersoll, ONT) and Mercer for her seventh goal of the season and 53rd career score.

The Purple Eagles (7-8-5) tied the game with a power-play marker from Jessica Hitchcock at 15:21 of the middle stanza.

The Knights outshot Niagara 27-21. Clarkson was 2-of-4 on the power play and killed off five of the Purple Eagles’ six man-advantage chances.
